So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

This weeks wallpaper started with a peach color palette, and the final version has very little of the first few. I decided to add a layer of an old newspaper file instead of the typical texture I tend to stick to. Once aligned to my liking, I imported the image into Mextures, and this was the final product.

I hope you all enjoy!

A few days ago, the sky displayed beautiful lilac shades. I only had my iPhone XS with me, but it captured it beautifully! I cropped a minimal area from one of the pictures I took and layered it in Photoshop with other effects and colors.

Enjoy.

My first trial with the new iPhone Xs camera was on these sunflowers. I liked the pictures enough to be used as wallpapers, but since that wasn’t the initial goal, the angle was less than ideal. With camera in hand, I found it.

Please Note:

I will longer be resizing for the smaller 6 and 7 devices, but a pinch and zoom on the Plus version (of any wallpaper) should fit perfectly. In exchange, I will be adding Xs Max size of all weekly wallpapers from here on out!

Quick iPhone X & iPhone XS Camera Comparison

As everyone knows, Apple has released new iPhones for 2018. The biggest difference in the iPhone XS and iPhone X is the improved camera. I am not going to get into all the nitty gritty details, I just want to show you the difference in photo quality. iPhone X pictures will be on the left and iPhone XS will be on the right. These are normal photos taken by the average iPhone user, not a pro by any means. These everyday shots are more along what the average user will see. All images are unedited, taken from my phone and placed here for your pleasure.

Above, no flash. Below with flash

Above with flash, below no flash

The above image are screenshots of the iPhone X and iPhone XS in portrait mode. Notice how the iPhone X has the background in a black & white setting while on the iPhone XS its completely blacked out.

You can see is most of the photos the iPhone XS catches more detail and I think it has better color accuracy in some of the shots. Let me know what you think and please share some of your comparison photos.

This week the official iOS 12 launched! There’s a new wallpaper that comes along with a new (stills) wallpaper. I’ve been on the iOS 12 beta all Summer and sometime then started working on a similar version. — The similarities being the colors (omitting my least favorites) and the simplicity. — It finally came together, in time for iOS 12’s official launch!

I hope you all enjoy.

This weeks wallpaper includes so many layers yet looks so simple and compliments most home screen icons. All my requirements in a home screen wallpaper.

It was all done in Photoshop, and there were a few “final” versions but while on phone calls, I kept adjusting, adding, removing, blurring.. etc.

I hope you all enjoy this final, final one!

So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

This weeks wallpaper is of some roses I got from Trader Joe's. They are a beautiful color, yet felt I couldn't do them justice. I tried various angles and combinations in Lightroom but wasn't happy with any version. Imported it into Mextures and tried a couple of the Guest Formulas and ended up loving the black and white versions. I was so focused on the color and making that pop through the image that I didn't realize the simplicity and beauty of eliminating the color altogether.

I hope you all enjoy!

Sometime this week I found myself playing with some fall inspired color palettes. I was working with a wine shade and somehow ended with my typical, but effective, color combo. I imported into Mextures to add a few light layers. Applying one of my formulas, I noticed this heart shape (just me?)  as a result of changing the layer style. A keeper!

On Sunday, the immediate family gathered for dinner to celebrate my dads birthday. The view of the beach at sunset was beautiful, I knew I wanted it to be this weeks wallpaper. I took a couple of pictures with my DSLR, and there were too many obstructions to use as a wallpaper straight out of Lightroom. In Photoshop I rid of the items I could. I removed the sun and made a new one and added more palm trees. All while keeping the original sunset colors and clouds.

There's a blank version (without the palm trees) and four other versions edited through Mextures. Find them here.

So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

I realized as I was getting the images ready that this week's wallpaper shares a stripe-y similarity to last weeks. I doodle on my iPad Pro, and I also use new Photoshop documents to "doodle" as I listen to a podcast or audiobook. Hence many of my wallpapers sharing so many similarities. Most times I delete the images, but once in a while, I stand back and if I blur this and add light here, hit it with a little Mextures ... we have our wallpaper!

I hope you all enjoy.

Grunge textures, pastels and patterns are all happening in this week's wallpaper. I wanted to work with softer colors since I tend to go for darker blues and purples, when in doubt. I did most in Photoshop and exported into my iPhone for the last touches. I find it easier since I can immediately test and see what doesn't work for the specific requirements I set for these wallpapers.

I hope you all enjoy!

So now onto this week's wallpaper submission:

Growing up, I was obsessed with the new Volkswagen Beetle. I knew nothing about them, I just liked the way they stood out. My first vehicle happened to be a Volkswagen Beetle, and ever since my friends and family still relate them to me. I got this toy one from my best friend on my 21st birthday.  Out of randomness, I decided to photograph it for wallpaper purposes a few weeks ago. I didn't really care for the result but kept the image on my desktop. In Photoshop and Lightroom, I edited it to look like an old photograph from the decade when this particular model was popular. If you look closely, you can see a rainbow and daisies on the roof. Nothing's groovier than flowers and rainbows to bookend that 'love' message.

I hope you all enjoy!

I never understand how (and why!) Californians look forward to Summer. Mind numbing heat is something to loathe. This week has been in the three digits (Fahrenheit) and anything this hot and murderous has my respect! Hence this weeks wallpaper. I started with a Summer-y palette. I worked on the pattern (in Photoshop) and mixed a few colors in various layers for some depth.

I hope you all enjoy!

Sometime last week I took various pictures of fresh fruits and vegetables I had just bought. There were a few I liked, but only the pineapple ones worked for wallpaper purposes. There were a few angles and variations, but this one took less away from the lock screen and home screen.

I took them with my iPhone X and edited in Lightroom and Photoshop to change the colors.

I hope you all enjoy!

I was having lunch at this restaurant on the beach, and while I waited for the pager they provided to go off, I walked around and took pictures. I only had my iPhone X on hand as I didn't really know that's where lunch was happening, but the iPhone X does not disappoint.

I edited in Lightroom and proceeded to stick to my favorite formula and exported right into Mextures on my iPhone.

Hope you all enjoy.
